David Lewis LaTourette was born on the 25th of August, 1823 (21 Aug 1823 was originally posted here in WikiTree) in Lodi, Seneca, New York. His parents were David LaTourette and Hannah Hegeman.
He married Emma Matilda Booth on the 4th of April, 1845. Together they had seven children, Howard Booth, Mary Emma, Mary, Charles David, Eliza W., Elizabeth Lizzie and Ida Belle LaTourette.[1]
In the 1850 US Census David LaTourette is listed as a 27 year old white male living with his 25 year old wife Anna LaTourette (Is this the same person as Emma M.?) and four year old son Howard and newborn daughter Mary LaTourtte. Anna is listed as being born in Pennsylvania.[2]
In the 1880 US Census David L. LaTourette is listed as a white married male age 57, occupation Banker, living with his wife Emma M., age 56, and 37 year old son in law Leroy C. Driggs as well as his 31 daughter Mary L. Driggs and two grandsons, 7 year old Edmund F. Driggs and 3 year old Lawrence L. Driggs who were both born in Michigan like their mother.[3]
David passed away on the 22nd of September, 1885 (7 Jul 1882 was originally posted here in WikiTree) in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas and was buried at the De Ann Cemetery in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas.[4]
Original Notes
In the 1850 US Census David LaTourtte's wife is listed as 25 year old Anna LaTourette who was born about 1825 in Pennsylvania.
However in the 1880 US Census David is listed as living with Emma M. LaTourette who was born about 1824 in New Jersey.
Both Family Search and Find A Grave indicated a 1845 marriage between David and Emma Matilda Booth. Their children were born between 1847 and 1859.
After David passed away in 1885 in Arkansas at some point Emma made her way to Oregon City, Oregon where she passed away on 25th November, 1908.
It seems from these basic facts that most likely Anna and Emma are the same person and that David was married once.
Though it is possible that David was married to an Anna from Pennsylvania in 1850 and the 1845 wedding date is for her and David. Then at some point after that Anna passed away and David married secondly Emma Matilda Booth from New Jersey.
