Biography

Note: One of the merged profiles listed his mother as Hannah Cassell (Cassell-146), rather than Susannah Cassle. No documentation for either; could even be the same person.

1. Adonijah, son of John and Hannah (Cassel) Lambert, was born 21 Jan 1823, Cherry Hill, Pendleton, Co., and died 12 Sept 1896, Wymer, Randolph Co. He married Barbara Bennett, born May 1830, the daughter of Elijah and Barbara (Bible) Bennett, 28 Apr 1849. Adonijah was in the Civil War, or what they called the home guard and was taken prisoner and sent to Champ Chase, Columbus, Oh. On 25 Aug 1862 he was sent from Camp Chase, Oh to Vicksburg, Mississippi to be exchanged to the Confederate Army for Union Troops. He was back in Pendleton by summer of 1863. Adonijah and his family then came to Randolph County about the year of 1867. He lived on North Mountain in Pendleton County and all of his children were born there. Adonijah moved from North Mountain to Wymer, Middle Mountain, Randolph County, in 1867, where he built a log home. This was the farm we now know at the John White farm.

Two of Adonijah's son's married two of Thomas and Eliza (Carr) Summerfield's daughters. Lafayette married Elizabeth and William (Frank) married Martha Lucindy (Cindy). Adonijah and Barbara lived the rest of their lives on the Lambert's home place. Adonijah and Barbara are buried in the Frank Lambert #1 cemetery located on Middle Mountain.

Thomas H. was the son of Henry I. "Henson" and Sarah K. (Roy) White. Thomas d: 17 Nov 1905 buried Nelson Cemetery, Dry Fork.

3. Lafayette Lambert, b: 22 Dec 1854 d: 7 Dec 1941 m: Mary E Summerfield 27 Mar 1877

8, James Washington "Jimmy" Lambert b: 1872, left home at age of 16, he was heard from in 1892 in Texas. James W was in the 1920 census living in Imperial County, Calif. The census shows he was from West Virginia and his parents were also from West Virginia. James W died 23 Mar 1927 at Laguna, Imperial County, Calif. We could not find any record of James being married or having any children.
