DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Van or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. You're my 22nd cousin but it's uncertain - which usually means that there was an adoption or a baby born out of wedlock somewhere in the family tree.

Hi Van, I noticed you've edited profiles as "Confirmed with DNA" today. This is another reminder that in order to include this marker, WikiTree has a very specific set of requirements to cite the relationship. Please see the Confirmed with DNA help page and the section in the DNA FAQ page for Why you need to cite a source when using "Confirmed with DNA".

I have set the parent relationship markers back to "Confident." Once the documentation requirements are met, you are welcome to set them as "Confirmed with DNA." The profiles affected are Hebert-1671, Leveque-109, Landry-1206. Thanks!

Hi, Van, I think it's so cool you are DNA confirmed with Antoine Landry! I wish I had that type of connection with my Acadian ancestors. Having checked that box, there should be a statement that goes onto the biography about the DNA. I admit this isn't my strong point. Could you take a look and provide what's needed? it's just a paragraph. Thank you, Cindy. Edit to add: Also for Pierre Landry (Landry-875)

Hi Van (and Cindy),

The information you need for a DNA confirmation statement is here, please read: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation. Basically, if your match has a WikiTree profile here is what the DNA source citation needs to include:

  • Whether the father or mother is confirmed by the DNA test comparison.
  • WikiTree IDs of you and your match. You can include names as well, but do not use your match's name if their profile does not have a public family tree.
  • Name of DNA testing company or third-party website where the tests were compared.
  • Predicted relationship from the DNA testing company or amount of shared DNA. For privacy, do not include any details about segment match locations.

WT's suggestion program is looking for key words, such as paternal, maternal, confirmed, from each of the above.

Cheers!

I see you are working on merges (Hebert-1680), you may want to review Matching and Merging FAQ to understand your responsibilities in doing merges.

Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the Contents Section text and make sure there are Sources to support the merge.

You will also want to review all other family members for potential duplicates and review any conflicts in parents. If you have any questions, just let me know. Thank you for your help in our global WikiTree project to create one World Tree linking as many ancestors as possible.

I made a note on the page of Landry-888. I think you're right - those were different Marguerites. I think, though, that neither of them was the correct Marguerite. :/
