Jabez Lapham was born 17 Jun 1805 in Marshfield Massachusetts, the son of Jabez Shurtleff Lapham, & Pamelia (Joyce) Lapham. He married Hannah Mitchell 4 Dec 1842 in Marshfield. Hannah was born there 7 Jun 1820. Jabez died in Marshfield 30 Dec 1843. Hannah married 2) Samuel D. Stetson, 18 Jan 1855 who was born in Scituate in 1817. Hannah died in Hanover Massachusetts 10 Feb 1901. There is one child of Jabez & Hannah listed:
Elisha Lapham was born 28 Jan 1844 in Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts, the son of Jabez Lapham. [2] Note this is one month after his father's death.
Capt Jabez Lapham died 29 Dec 1843 of "Typhus Fever" in Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was 38, married, a wheelright and the son of Jabez S. Lapham. Immediately preceding his entry are those of his mother Pamelia, 69, widowed, and his sister Lucy, 31, unmarried, who both died 25 Dec also from "Typhus Fever". Farther up the page is a Betsey Lapham who died 21 Sep at age 4.[3]
According to "Shurtleff" Jabez had a sister Betsey born in 1802 who died unmarried on 24 Sep1843. The entry preceding is dated 22 Sep and the rest of the page, with one exception, is in chronological order so the age may have been recorded in error.
Jabez Lapham was born 17 Jun 1805 in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts and died 30 Dec 1843 (aged 38). He was buried in the Plainville Cemetery in Marshfield.
