^[18] says he was retired for 15 years before his death at St. Anthony's Hospital in Terre Haute. He obviously remarried after the death of Emma. The Sunday, August 11, 1940, Terre Haute Tribune, page 2 obituary states:

"David Sherman Laswell, 70 years old, 1536 Second avenue, died at St. Anthony's hospital at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening. He is survived by the widow, Isabell; three daughters, Mrs. A. W. Cox and Mrs. W. E. Schlichter, of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Lon Barbee, of Brazil, R. R.; one son, Wayne of Terre Haute; two brothers, Martin Laswell, of English, Ind., and Edward Laswell, of Terre Haute; one sister, Mrs. Harry Seaton, and 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The body was taken to the Gillis Memory Chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements."

^[19] "Funeral services for David Sherman Laswell, 70 years old, 1536 Second Avenue, who died at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening at St. Anthony's Hospital, will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Gillis Memory Chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery."

Buried in the graves are: Donald Barbee, 19d. 2/25/29, David Sherman Laswell, 70, 8/13/40, Alonzo Barbee, 62, 2/4/55, Darold Dean Barbee, 49, 3/13/80, and Alma Ruth Barbee, 85, 5/5/86. Alonzo Barbee has a gravestone supplied by the US gov. as he was a WWI veteran. The others have no markers.
