Mary Lawrence was born in 1773-74 in Dutchess County, New York, to parents Cornelius Lawrence and Mary Cromwell.
Mary arrived in Ontario in 1800 with her father Cornelius LAWRENCE & her husband George YOUNG + at least one child, John (born 1796 in Dutchess County -- obituary on this page) who is not mentioned here:
Relocating to Upper Canada in 1800 makes this family one of the late arrivals, compared with many of the United Empire Loyalists who emigrated in the early-mid 1780s.
Children
George & Mary had at least 5 surviving children, repeating first names of earlier generations:
Oliver Cromwell (born 12 Jul 1815, Mountain View, Prince Edward County, Ontario) + Jane Parliament
Mary was listed as age 77 in the 1851 census, living with son John Young (age 56; born 1796 in Dutchess County) + his wife + 4 youngest children.[6]
Obituary for their son John G. Young:
From the Hastings Chronicle of 22 Jan 1868: "Died, on the 8th past, at his residence, 2nd Con. Sidney, Mr. John G YOUNG, aged 71 years. Deceased was born in Dutchess County., N.Y., and came to Lawrence Point in the year 1800, and in 1805 removed to the farm where he lived til the time of his death. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.[7]
It is assumed Mary died between 1851 and 1861, as she does not appear with her son's family on the 1861 census.
Observations
3 interesting things to note:
Mary Lawrence married her first cousin George Young. George's mother Rebecca Cromwell (born ca 1749) and Mary's mother Mary Cromwell (born ca 1745) were sisters. Both were daughters of Benjamin Cromwell, born ca.1726 in Jamaica, Long Island, New York.
Rebecca and Mary Cromwell were descended from the same family as Thomas Cromwell (chief minister to Henry VIII in the 1530s) and Oliver Cromwell (Lord Protector of England in the 1650s, between Charles I and Charles II). A direct ancestor is Richard Cromwell, nephew of Thomas and 3 generations above Oliver:
In homage to the Cromwell history, the first name "Oliver" often appears in this family tree, creating some identity confusion when searching for historical records.

↑ Ezekial Young ... well remembered by the people of Sidney as an earnest Methodist worker, whose tall form and kindly face were a familiar sight at the Methodist gatherings, where his words were highly esteemed and listened to with rapt attention. It was not until he had reached the advanced age of 92 years that he died, mourned and respected by the entire community.

↑ Their son "John W. Young lived on the second concession of Sidney, where he was born in 1838. John was educated at the old Hogle school which has turned out so many useful citizens.. Of a quiet disposition he
is a favorite socially. Well posted in current events he is an interesting conversationalist, and can appreciate and tell a good story. Having always taken an active interest in educational matters, he gave his daughters a good scholastic and musical education; and the youngest one holds the position of organist in "Aikens Church," where her father has for many years been class leader, steward and trustee. In politics, like all the familly, a life-long Conservative, John W. Young is an ardent admirer of the late Sir John A. Macdonald, whose funeral he attended. Joining the L.0.L. [Loyal Orange Lodge] over 20 years ago, he attained the degree of Royal Black Knight and was Master of Lodge 1921, at the time it was burned.
