Biography

Zachariah was the son of Emmanuel Lay and Sarah Scofield. His exact year of birth is not known at this time; census records and birth years for his children indicate that he was most likely born between about 1765 and 1775.

He married Ann Terrell. Among their children were:

  1. Henry Harrison Lay was born October 12, 1805 in Georgia.
  2. William Lay was born about 1815 in Tennessee or Georgia.
  3. Elisha Lay was born about 1820 in Georgia.

Zachariah died at the age of about 68 on 16 October 1843 in Fayette County, Tennessee, United States.
