Biography

Jean was born about 1674 in Port-Royal, Acadie. He was the son of Jacques Leblanc and Catherine Hebert.[1]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Jean, aged 12, was living with his parents, Jacques LEBLANC, aged 35, and Catherine HEBERT, aged 23, and his seven siblings: Marguerite, aged 11, Jacques, aged 9, Marie, aged 6, Anne, aged 5, Catherine, aged 3, Pierre, aged 2 and René, aged 1 month. The family owned 3 guns and was living on 6 arpents of cultivable land with 25 cattle, 30 sheep and 15 hogs.[2]

Jean (23) married Marguerite Richard (20) (born about 1677 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France; daughter of Michel Richard and Madeleine Blanchard) in 1698 in Acadie.[1] Their children were:

  1. Pierre LeBlanc (abt. 1699–bef. 1756) .
  2. Marguerite LeBlanc (abt. 1701– ) .
  3. Anne LeBlanc (abt. 1703–abt. 1755) .
  4. Jean LeBlanc (1707–1765) .
  5. Marie LeBlanc (abt. 1707–aft. 1751) .
  6. Jacques LeBlanc (1709–1735) .
  7. Paul LeBlanc (1711– ) .
  8. Charles LeBlanc (abt. 1713–abt. 1758) .
  9. Joseph LeBlanc (abt. 1718–bef. 1763) .
  10. Michel LeBlanc (1720–bef. 1763)

He passed away 10 Jun 1747 in Grand Pré and was buried there the next day.[3][4][5]
