Marie LeBlanc, daughter of Jacques LeBlanc and Catherine Hébert, was born about 1680, likely at Port-Royal, Acadie. Her parents were married there, her siblings before and after her were born there, and they were still in Port Royal when she was age 6.[1]

In 1686 at Port Royal, Marie, aged 6, was living in a busy household with her parents, Jacques LEBLANC, aged 35, and Catherine HEBERT, aged 23, and her seven siblings: Jean, aged 12, Marguerite, aged 11, Jacques, aged 9, Anne, aged 5, Catherine, aged 3, Pierre, aged 2, and René, aged 1 month. The family owned 3 guns and was living on 6 arpents of cultivable land with 25 cattle, 30 sheep and 15 hogs. Their immediate neighbors were the brother and the elderly parents of Catherine. Jacques' own parents were another door away.[2]

Marie was counted in the census of Les Mines at age 15.[3]

Marie (16) married Alexis Cormier (20) (born about 1676 in Acadie, Nouvelle-France; son of Thomas Cormier and Marie Madeleine Girouard) in 1697 in Acadie, Nouvelle-France.[1] Their known children were:[4]

  1. Marie Cormier (abt. 1698–abt. 1742) .
  2. Madeleine Cormier (abt. 1700–bef. 1741) .
  3. Pierre Cormier (abt. 1702–1748) .
  4. Marguerite Cormier (abt. 1706–bef. 1752) .
  5. Agnès Cormier (abt. 1708–1745) .
  6. Jean-Baptiste Cormier (abt. 1710–bef. 1745) .
  7. Anne Cormier (abt. 1712– ) .
  8. Joseph Jean Cormier (abt. 1715– ) .
  9. Unknown Cormier (1718– ) .
  10. Catherine Cormier (abt. 1721–bef. 1778)

In 1698, the young couple was counted in the census at Beaubassin. Alexis, age 22 and Marie, age 19, did not have children yet or owned land but they had farm animals. They were living next to Alexis' widowed mother and 6 children, and close to his older married siblings, François, Marie and Anne.[5]

Two years later, they had a daughter, age 2, 8 arpents of land and more farm animals. [6]

The family was counted again in the censuses of 1701 and 1703.[7][8] In 1707 there were 4 children in the family home. There were 20 cattle, 16 sheep and 15 hogs counted at their farm. [9] By 1714, their eldest child Marie had married and left the family home. Six children were living with Alexis and Marie.[10]

Marie passed away before 1750 since that year Alexis was listed as a widower in the census at Ouescoque, living alone. [11][12]
