Biography

Jacques LeBlanc was born about 1677 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, son of Jacques LeBlanc (abt. 1651–aft. 1731) and Catherine Hébert (abt. 1656–aft. 1714).[1]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Jacques, aged 9, was living with his parents, Jacques LEBLANC, aged 35, and Catherine HEBERT, aged 23, and his seven siblings: Jean, aged 12, Marguerite, aged 11, Marie, aged 6, Anne, aged 5, Catherine, aged 3, Pierre, aged 2, and René, aged 1 month. The family owned 3 guns and was living on 6 arpents of cultivable land with 25 cattle, 30 sheep and 15 hogs.[2]

By 1693, Jacques' parents had moved to Les Mines, a village just a little smaller than Port Royal.[3] All of their 11 children were born, and ten were still living at home, with Ignace just a toddler. Jacques was the second oldest child in the busy household at 17 years of age.

Jacques (37) married Elisabeth Boudrot (18) (born in 1696 in Grand Pre, Acadie; daughter of Claude Boudrot and Anne Marie Thibodeau) in 1715 in Acadie.[4] Their known children were:

  1. Marie Josephe Blanche LeBlanc (abt. 1716– ) .
  2. Joseph (Leblanc) LeBlanc (abt. 1718–aft. 1754) .
  3. Pierre LeBlanc (abt. 1719–1799)

Jacques passed away some time between 1719 and 1723.[4]
