Jacob was born on 13 Apr 1831 in Richland County, Ohio.[1] He was the son of Daniel Leedy and Salome (Brown) Leedy.[1]

Jacob married Barbara (Garber) Leedy on 26 Feb 1854 in Richland County, Ohio.[2]

Jacob served the Union in the Civil War as a Corporal in Company D, 163rd Regiment, Ohio Infantry (National Guard). He died of disease at Fort Monroe, Virginia.

Jacob died on 28 Aug 1864 at Fort Monroe Hampton City, Virginia and is buried in the Hampton National Cemetery at Hampton,Virginia.[1][3]
