OBITUARY
Daniel W. Leppo, son of John and Mary Leppo, was born in Bedford county, Penna., February 25, 1844, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carrie Vaughn, at Barnes City, Sept. 8, 1921, at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 14 days. When yet a child he came to Iowa with his mother, where he spent his entire life. On January 4, 1864, he enlisted in Co. E, Second Iowa Volunteers, and faithfully served his country until he was honorably discharged on July 12, 1865.
On Sept. 19, 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha McCartney. To this union was born eight children, five of whom with the wife have preceded him in death. Mr. Leppo was well and favorably known here, having spent the greater part of his life in this community. He died after a short illness, death being caused by ptomaine poisoning.
