Obituary

Edna Ruth Leuty, 91, a longtime resident of Lexington, Kentucky, died on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was born December 1, 1925 in Justin, Texas to Callie Young and Nannie Belle Pafford Leuty. She graduated from Justin High School and studied Business at North Texas State University before joining the work force in Fort Worth Texas as a clerk and secretary.

She later enjoyed a career in administrative support for the Voice of America, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and in Stuttgart, Germany. When she returned to the US, she worked for such diverse organizations as Fox and Jacobs Homes, Bauer Audio-Video, and a small independent brokerage where she obtained her stock brokers license. She retired in 1991 and moved to Lexington in the spring of 1997 from Fort Worth to live with family.

She had just been moved to the nursing facilities at Bluegrass Care & Rehabilitation on 24 Mar 2017. Edna was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she helped in the church library as well as calling church members on their birthdays. She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class, and the SOC Organization at Centenary.

She will be remembered for her quick and feisty wit, and love of Friday card games with friends. Edna was preceded in death by her two older brothers, Walter Guy Leuty of Red Oak, Texas and Howard Wilson Leuty of Lawrence, Kansas.
