Biography
Colonel Hugh Arthur Lewes (1839-1914) of the. Bengal Staff Corps, he
was present at the outbreak of the mutiny at Meerut on the 10th May 1857, and was severely wounded. Other service included serving in the Afghan War 1879-80.
He married firstly in 1873 Amy Theophila Gwatkin (1848-1875)
He married secondly in 1886 Lucy Julia Perfect (1852-1932).
