Although no baptism record has been found Robert was probably the son of John Lewis and his wife Ann Fletcher.
On 14 May 1765 Robert married Anne Croft at Donington on Bain, Lincolnshire. The banns were read on 21 and 28 April and 5 May. It was the first marriage for both parties who were unable to sign their names. The witnesses were John Lyon and George Croft.[1][2] There were seven children from the marriage:
Robert was buried at Donington on Bain on 30 April 1827 aged 84. [3]
