He was a Knight of the Shire and a Member of Parliament from Westmorland in 1542 and 1545. James was aged 20 at the date of his father's death (according to the post mortem inquisition) in 1510.
He married firstly, Eleanora.k.a. Allianor or Elana, daughter of Sir Thomas Curwen.[1][2][3] They married bef. 1516.[4] They had two sons and two daughters, incuding:
James made his will on 4 Jul 1548 and died on 20 Aug that year.[5]
