OBITUARY Layman Light, 66, of Burnet, died Jan. 2. He was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Llano, to Vach Franklin Light and Mary Alice Moss Light. He grew up and attended school in Llano where he graduated in 1958. He joined the United States Army and served in Germany, Korea, and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as Sergeant First Class and moved to Burnet where he worked at Texas Granite Co. and at the John Deere dealership in Burnet. He later went to work for the Burnet Independent School District in the transportation department and while there he was involved in many changes including updating the busses and vehicles with radios, cameras, and air conditioning. After 15 years of employment with the school system he enjoyed his second retirement traveling, camping, fishing, and attending the different activities on offshore casinos. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Frankie Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Erika; one son, Marvin A. Light of Bertram; one daughter, Peggy Chelette of Granite Shoals; one brother, Marvin S. Light of Burnet; one sister Lorene Koennecke of Tow; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous relatives and friends. Visitation was held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral home in Burnet and services were held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, with Rodney McGee officiating. Serving as pallbearers were John Straley, Larry Baker, Christopher Maxwell, Curtis Chelette Jr., Jim Light, and Travis Light. Burial with military honors followed at the Six Mile Cemetery near Llano. Funeral services were entrusted to Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Burnet.
