Ruth Lindley was born in Orange, North Caroliina in 1756 and died in Anderson County, South Carolina 1845. She was the daughter of James Lindley and Mary Cox. She married Benjamin Smith in South Carolina, They had eleven known children.
Ruth Lindley was the fifth child of Loyalist Capt. James L. Lindley and Mary Cox, of 96 District, South Carolina. She married Benjamin Smith (1751- 1834). She is thought to be his second wife.
Both Ruth Lindley and Benjamin Smith are buried at the Pickens Cemetery in Anderson County, South Carolina. This one of the oldest cemeteries in Anderson County.
