Mary was born in 1826, the daughter of Richard Lindsey and Elizabeth Phelps, and passed away in 1888.

Mary Ann Lindsey, the daughter of William M. Lindsey and Sarah Logan, was born in 1828 in Kentucky. She was the first wife of Daniel B. Roof. They were married on November 9, 1848 in Edmonson County, Kentucky. They were the parents of the following children born in Edmonson County: 1. Ruby Frances - b. 1848 2. Dorothy Ann - b. Jan 1850 -- m. John Marion Lindsey on 9 Apr 1867 3. Daniel, Jr. - b. 9 Jan 1852 / 18 Aug 1948 4. Nancy M. - b. 1856 -- m. John W. Johnson 5. William N. - b. 1857 6. Washington M. - b. Jan 1860 -- Mary A. ____b. 9 May 1860 / d. 22 Feb 1885 7. Elizabeth W. - b. Jan 1862

Mary Roof died on July 2, 1880 or 1888. She was buried in the Si Hughes Cemetery southwest of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky that is located south of the Caney Creek Church Road. Her husband Daniel Boone Roof was buried there with her after his death on September 16, 1906. Their son Daniel, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Mary A. Roof are also buried in this cemetery. There are also several other Roof burials with only initials and without dates buried there.
