William was born March 31, 1858 in Tenecape, Hants County, Nova Scotia. He is the son of David Lingard and Esther Hill.
On June 23, 1887, by Presbyterian Lisence, at the age of 29, William married Josephine McCulloch. Witnesses to the wedding included John A Lingard with the Reverend Alex Campbell officiating.
The family is found living in Walton, Hants County in the 1891 Census and they were a farming family.
The 1901 Census finds the family in Yale & Cariboo District , British Columbia with Williams occupation reported as a Miner.
The 1911 Census finds the family in Kaslo City, British Columbia. William reported as a Miner.
William Mason Lingard died March 22, 1917 in Kaslo, British Columbia at the age of 59.
