Biography

David Linnell immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

David seems to have been born between 1627 and 1636 in England, possibly in London. His father, Robert Linnell was recorded as being first in Scituate, Plymouth Colony by 1639, and then moved to the new settlement at Barnstable by 1640. David's mother was Jemimah Howse. [citation needed]

David married Hannah Shelley on married March 9, 1653. This marriage occurred after the 1652 "Court Orders" when David & Hannah were sentenced to public whippings for "vncleane practises eich with other"[citation needed]

The family resided at Barnstable. They raised a family of at least 9 children. David passed away about 1689 and was buried at Barnstable. His will, dated 17 November 1688 and proved 9 March 1688/9, names sons Jonathan, John, Samuel, Elisha; daughters Hannah Daues, Mary, Experience Linnel, Susanna Linnel, Abigail Linnell; wife Hannah to be executrix.[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with David:
