!"Married at Topsham Maine, Oct 4, 1731, Mary Lithgow was born in Ireland.
Hon. Francis Adams of Bath Maine wrote: "My Grandfather Arthur Hunter was the
son of Adam Hunter and Mary Lithgow, who, as I understand it, was a daughter
of Robert Lithgow and a sister of William Lithgow. The Lithgows were early
settlers near the mouth of the Kennebec River, at what is now Phippsburg
Maine. I have heard them referred to as the 'famous Lithgow Line.' The
Lithgows are said to have emigrated from Ireland when Mary Lithgow was 10
years old, in the ship Olive in 1719."
Her second marriage, to Capt. David Dunning of Brunswick Maine, was past age
80 for both of them.
!"Ancestor Adam Hunter of Topsham Maine and his Descendants," compiled by Rev.
Charles N. Sinnett.
Mary married twice: first, to Adam Hunter, and second, to David Dunning, when she was around 80 years old.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
Also, Adam and Mary had a total of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. In addition to those listed, there was William, Robert, and Arthur. I am descended through Robert. The current owner of the Hunter farm in Topsham is descended through Arthur. I have been in contact with a descendant of James. I am searching and searching for the verifiable father of Adam in hopes of making a documented connection to the Hunters of Scotland.
