Biography

They had six sons, four daughters and an unnamed child.

Ruth Smith: "Certain descendants of Henry Smith of Huntington, L.I. (1729-1802) and his 1st wife, Mary Chichester, claim he was a son of william Henry and margaret (Lloyd) Smith, which is obviously not tru (see copy of the lineage of Lorenzo Dow Smith at the Manor of St. George Museum, Mastic, L.I.) "There was an Elizabeth Smith, wife of Samuel Halsted of Amherst, Nova Scotia, who supposedly was a dau. of William Henry and Margaret (Lloyd) Smith, according to an unanswered query in the Boston Evening Transcript, 27 May 1929, #8585. As her 1st son, Oliver Smith Halsted. was b. 1789, it is not impossible she was an illegitimate dau. of one of their sons."
