Biography

Jonathan Locke was born in 1758 the son of Dr. Jonathan Locke and Abigail Perry of Massachusetts, who emigrated to Nova Scotia and settled in the Ragged Islands in 1762[1] [2].

On December 18, 1780, he married Elizabeth Ryder, and their children included:

  1. John Locke, b. 1782, who married m. Mary Harlow, and died 1869[3]
  2. Samuel Locke, born 28 November 1784, who married Letitia McKillop on 6 December 1806[4], and who died February 10, 1881[5]
  3. James Locke, born 14 May 1786, who married Fanny Strickland, and who died in 1872[6]
  4. Priscilla Locke b. Sept 12, 1789[7], who died in 1885 (See Findagrave Memorial #131245979
  5. Elizabeth Locke b. September 9, 1792
  6. Mary Locke b. April 19, 1795
  7. Abigail Locke, b. March 19, 1802, who married Enos Churchill, the son of Enos Churchill and Mary Paine[8]

Jonathan Locke Jr died in 1852, and is buried in the Locke Family Cemetery in Lockeport, Shelburne, Nova Scotia[9]
