Jacob Lockhart was born between 1815-1818 in Parrsboro or Crossroads, Cumberland, Nova Scotia. His parents were John Beriah Lockhart and Rebecca Barker. He married Elizabeth Jane Gow in Diligent River, Cumberland, Nova Scotia in December, 1841. A Methodist, he lived in Mill Village/Parrsboro from 1861 to 1891, and worked as a stevedore there in 1871 and 1881. By 1891 he was a widower, living with his son Daniel. He died March 13, 1893, in Parrsboro/Mill Village.
