Biography

James Alfed Lockhart was born about 1801, the son of Timothy Lockhart and Elizabeth Teed; [1] died of bronchitis at Newport, Hants, Nova Scotia, 22 Jan 1877. [2]

He was "of Leicester, N.S." [3] when he married at Sackville, New Brunswick, 14 Mar 1822, Elizabeth "Eliza" Jenks. [4]

James Alfre4d b. ca 1834; m. Mary Jane Lutz of Steeves Mtn. by license 2470 of 19 May 1857, by A.W. Des Brissay. In 1881 Mary Jane was a widow., living with David and Jane Trites, and Mary Lutes b. a 1809, In Moncton Parish. Census lists children:

  1. Willis or Wills Martin b. ca 1858
  2. Eleanor b. ca 1859.
  3. Walter (probable), 1860-1943.
  4. Mary Jane b. ca 1861.
  5. Minnie M. b. ca 1863.
  6. James S. b. ca 1864; d. 1891.
  7. William b. ca 1867; d. 1871.

In FamilySearch, Shirley Coneen leaves the following note:

There were 2 men named James Alfred Lockhart. The 1st James Alfred Lockhart (1836-1870) was the son of Charles Lockhart & 2nd wife Lydia Lutes. He married Mary Jane Lutz. He is recorded in his father's Probate. The 2nd James Alfred Lockhart c1801-1877 was the son of Timothy Lockhart & Elizabeth Tidd. He married Eliza Jenks - they did not have a son named James Alfred Lockhart.
