- William and his wife Elizabeth both grew up in the area that later became LaRue County, Kentucky, subsequently married and moved to the area of the Green and Nolin River area. The Hart County tax lists shows them with 352 acres on the Green River and another 170 acres along the Roundstone which flows into the Nolin River south of Millerstown.
- William was commissioned by the Hardin County Court in 1798 as a Surveyor / Overseer of a trail to be cut from Bacon Creek south to the Green River. This trail was to be 4 feet wide to accommodate Horse and Rider. This was part of a trail that would eventually lead from Elizabethtown to Bowling Green.
- William is credited with service during the War of 1812 with the 13th Kentucky Militia, in Captain Hales' Company. He was also drafted for six months while in Hardin County during 1814.
