Jacob Sherman Logsdon was probably born on 30 Oct 1863 or 1864 (but possibly in 1868), in Hart County, Kentucky. He was the son of George Webster ("Webb") Logsdon and Luvisa Tharp.[1] He grew up on the family farm near Bacon Creek in Hart County.[2]

His gravestone in the Logsdon plot in Green Lawn Cemetery, Grenola, Elk County, Kansas, however, gives a birth date of 30 Oct 1868. Pending further research and additional documentation, the date on the gravestone is used here.
