Biography
Robert Churchill LONG was born in Lopen, Somerset, England abt May 1785 and he enlisted in the 74th Highland Regiment of Foot abt 1808 and was positioned in Fort George, Inverness where meet & married Isabel McKENZIE in Dec 1808, just before his regiment was dispatched to Cork, Ireland in Jan 1809 (Isabel was 15 yrs old when she married). Robert’s regiment remained in Ireland until Jan 1810 when it was dispatched to Lisbon, Portugal to join Wellington’s army in the Peninsula wars.
