Rev Samuel Lawrence Lotspeich was born on 09 Jul 1796 in Greeneville, Greene County, Southwest Territory [1]. He was the son of Johann Christopher "Jon" Lotschberg and Rebecca Rebecca Hartley. He was a Methodist minister and married Polly Bitner on 11 Sept 1817 in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee.
In 1850 he was living in Newport, Cocke County, Tennessee and married a second wife, Lena Louiza Gibson, on 08 Jul 1850 there. She died there on 08 Aug 1854. After her death he married his third wife. In 1870 they were living in Murray County, Georgia,
He died on 23 Apr 1874 at age: 78 years, 3 months, 14 days in Spring Place, Murray County, Georgia and was buried in Center Valley Cemetery, Chatsworth, Georgia. His headstone is actually engraved "1785-1873'" for some reason.
