Biography

Elizabeth (Lowe) Saunders is part of a Bahamian family.

Elizabeth Ann Turtle "Lizzie" Lowe was born 19 May 1849 at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas to John Lowe and Rebecca Saunders Lowe. She was christened 9 September 1849.

Lizzie married Benjamin Atwood Saunders, son of Joseph Turtle Saunders and Ann Nancy "Nannie" Lowe Saunders, 14 May 1868, at New Plymouth, Green Turtle Cay, Abaco. They had children - among them Atwood Bernard Saunders, Annette "Nettie" Saunders, Motinilla Aurelia "Mottie" Saunders, Samuel Atwood Saunders, Elliott/Illiot Allison Saunders, Florence Saunders, Isolena "Lena" Saunders, and Edna Irene Saunders. Not all of the children survived their childhoods.

Elizabeth Lowe Saunders died, 27 June 1901, in the Parish of St Peter's, Hope Town and Marsh Harbour, Abaco at about 50 years of age.
