Biography

Ralph was born in 1839, the son of Price Lucas and Amanda Blain. [1] [2]

1900 census shows him born in West Virginia, but all previous census records for him show him born in Virginia, from which West Virginia was formed in 1863.

He married on 17 Nov 1863 at Boyd County, Kentucky to Amicetta/Emmazetta Nelson [3] and they had children: [4] [5] [6]

Ralph's family resided at Logan County, Virginia, which was formed in 1824 from portions of southern Kanawha County and eastern Cabell County. [13]
Emmazetta's family resided at Wayne County, Virginia, which was formed in 1842 from the southwesternmost part of Cabell County, between Logan County to the east and Kentucky County to the west.

In 1860...

Ralph's family had removed to Cabell County, Virginia, which was formed in 1809 from a portion of Kanawha County. [13] Cabell County bordered Ohio to the north, Kentucky to the west, and Wayne County to the south.
Emmazetta's family still resided at Wayne County.

In 1863...

The state of West Virginia was formed on 20 Jun from the northwestern portion of Virginia and was initially comprised of 51 counties, including Logan, Wayne & Cabell Counties.
Ralph & Emmazetta married on 17 Nov at Boyd County, Kentucky, across the Tug Fork River from Wayne County, West Virginia.

From 1870-1900...

Ralph & Emmazetta resided at Lincoln County, West Virginia, which was formed in 1863 from portions of Boone, Cabell, Kanawha and Putnam Counties.
