Note NI492He drowned in the Mississippi River at the age of 8. The Nauvoo Times and Seasons wrote, "Drowned -- in this city, July 23, Samuel W. Luce, aged 8 yrs, and James F. C., aged 6 yrs., both children of Stephen & Mary Luce, formerly of Maine. In this afflicting occurence the parents have been deprived of 2 very promising boys.".
