Note NI2324He was a seaman. About 1882 he and his cousin William Andrew Luce paid a visit to their Luce cousins in Hancock County, Illinois. While there Charles met his future wife, who was then boarding with the Thomas Luce family in Sonora Township. They were married in her mother's home, Riverside Mansion, in Nauvoo. They moved to Herington, Kansas, and in 1891 to Kansas City, Missouri where they operated a livestock agency and confectionery store.
