Biography

Mary Lunt was born at Newbury, Massachusetts Bay, in 1682, a daughter of Ens. Henry Lunt and Jane (Browne) Lunt; through her maternal grandfather, Abraham Browne, she was descended from a line of English kings spanning the reign of Henry II through that of Edward III.

Mary married Joshua Wingate of Hampton in November of 1702; although a primary death or burial record in that town is wanting, she is understood from a private manuscript of their son Paine Wingate to have outlived her spouse by three years, dying at age 90 -- presumably, at Hampton -- in the spring of 1772.[1]
