Biography

From Ancestry.com (posted by websterhazel on 29 Mar 2012):

LUXON, Michael Roy
Peacefully at the Blind River District Health Centre on Monday, March 12, 2012, Mike Luxon of Lake Matinenda, Blind River, passed away at the age of 72. Loving husband of the late Marjorie May Luxon (nee Winter). Father of Michelle Fortier of Blind River, and Christopher Luxon (Jennifer) of Guelph. Grandfather of David Fitzpatrick (son of the late Peter Fitzpatrick) of Blind River. Brother of Joan Webster (late Angus) of Blind River, Linda Darling-Pay (late Bob), and Gale Darling (John) of Hamilton. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews from Hamilton, Acton, Blind River, and B.C. Mike will be greatly missed by many friends from Lake Matinenda. Mike worked as an Instrumentation Technician at Nortons in Hamilton and Rio Algom in Elliot Lake. Following his retirement at Rio Algom, he managed Roy's Northland Camp, a family business on Lake Matinenda. Mike was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Mike was a man of few words, who was enlightened by the pleasures of what was most important to him, his loving family, close friends, and animals. Mike also loved fishing, bird watching, and the beauty of the outdoors at the lake. Heartfelt thanks from Mike's family to Dr. Marc Bradford for the many years of caring for Mike and the immeasurable support and efforts in maintaining his dignity and comfort during his brief illness. Thank you as well to the nursing staff at Blind River District Health Centre for the excellent care for Mike. Lastly, thanks to the special people in Mike's life and the years of shared friendship at the lake. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of Mike's life held at Lake Matinenda this summer. Donations to a charity of your choice would be gratefully accepted. Arrangements entrusted to the Menard Funeral Home, Blind River. Mike was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all. His genuine spirit and words of wisdom will remain everlasting along the beautiful shores of Lake Matinenda. To Mike's family and friends he so dearly loved, walk forward in your own journey of life not with tears of sadness, but with laughter, love and joy in the memories once shared with Mike. "May a tree grow in your heart and let the birds sing." Mike would have hoped for nothing less.
