Biography
This profile is part of the Lyon Name Study.
Mary Lyon was born about September 1685, and was baptised on 23 March 1686, in Dorchester, Massachusets.[1] She was the daughter of Elhanan Lyon (1652-1689) and Mary (Unknown) Lyon (abt.1663-). [2]
She married Samuel Soper in Boston, Massachusetts on October 25, 1708 by Mr. Benjamin Wadsworth,[3] for whom Wadsworth House, the second oldest building in at Harvard, is named.[4]
- Note: The Lyon Memorial states the marriage record: "Samuel Soper, m. Mary Lyon, Oct. 28 1708, may refer to her widowed mother Mary.
Apparently she had a sister of the same name, Mary Lyon (1683-1683), who was born and died in 1683.
