Joseph Mabry was born on 19 Mar 1796, son of George Mabry (1763 - 1840) and Mary (Lackey) Mabry (~1763 - ).
His sister was Francis (Mabry) Cox (1784 - 1851).
Joseph married Alice Hare Scott (1800 - 1843), (d/o Judge William Scott; the Biographical Directory of the Tennessee General Assembly says she was the daughter of James and Jane Adams Scott). Their children were:
Joseph died on 19 Apr 1837 aged 41.
They were the parents of two sons George and Joseph both lived in Knoxville. Daughters Mary, Margaret and Calpurnia.
Joseph died 19 April 1837 in Tuscaloosa, AL, two days after an argument during which he shot Dr. William A. Leland of Tuscaloosa and was then stabbed by Leland.
He was a member of the state legislature and of the Constitutional convention of 1834. His executors were: James Cox, George Mabry, Sr., and Wm. T. Givens, all of whom died before the estate was settled; Joseph Alexander, Jr. then became the administrator.
Joseph was born in 1796. He passed away in 1837.
