Biography

Strachan MacKenzie was a shepherd, and perhaps latterly a butcher ('butcher' is mentioned on his death record).

Strachan MacKenzie married Henrietta McLeod on 13 April 1824 in Assynt, Sutherland. The place of marriage appears to have been Stronechrubie, Keylstome Parish of Edrachylish, Scotland.

The death record (of 2 March 1890) for Strachan MacKenzie states he was aged 'about 88', but I think he was 90 years of age, as he was born on 3 June 1799.

There is a job reference for Strachan MacKenzie in 'The Inverness Courier' of 16 October 1856. The reference states that he was a shepherd 'good and true'.

Strachan MacKenzie's parents were Alexander MacKenzie and Fauldie(?) MacKenzie (nee Falconer). They would likely have been born around 1775.
