Biography

Elizabeth was a Friend (Quaker)
Elizabeth (Maddocks) Allen was an early settler in New Jersey.

DOB (more likely date of baptism): 30 Dec 1670 in Saint Sepulcher's, London, England?[citation needed]

29 Aug 1678 Elizabeth, age 8, with her parents, sailed to Salem in Fenwick's colony in West Jersey.

24 June 1689 [24d, 4mo, 1689] Elizabeth and James Denn received a license to marry by the Salem Monthly Meeting.[1]

28 Jan 1694/5 [28d, 11mo, 1794] Jeremiah Powell declared intentions to marry Elizabeth Denn at the Salem Monthly Meeting..[2]

Around 1703 Elizabeth married 3rd widower Ephraim Allen. In 1704 Elizabeth, described as "relict of Jeremiah Powell who married Ephraim Allen," sold Jeremiah's lot in Philadelphia to Richard Hill..[3]

Mother of Jedediah Allen; Joseph Yeoman ALLEN; Mary Allen; Vesty ALLEN; Dinah Allen Russell

The family apparently made frequent trips to Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, East Jersey, to visit Ephraim’s kin, for a number of the children married and/or settled there.

Elizabeth died in 1724 and Ephraim married in 1726 the widow Hannah (Johnson) Holden Leonard of Cape May NJ.

The last names and birthdays of the kids do not line up with the marriage dates. It would appear, eg, that Joseph is a Powell not an Allen.

Hi David, I agree with the Ephraim merge; looks like the other PM is inactive so may take a few more weeks. Meanwhile, there is a merge in place for Elizabeth Maddox and Elizabeth Maddox. Once that’s done we can merge your Elizabeth. Aren't these families fun!!

Hi Heather, Ephraim Allen is her 3rd husband. I added info to Elizabeth Maddox so the merge should now be able to go thru. Thanks.
