He sold property in 1784, perhaps preparing to move to Georgia.
One Zachariah Maddox was enumerated on the 1784 Tax List for Little Creek, Sussex County, Delaware along with Zepheniah Maddox and William Maddox.[1]
The family removed to Georgia by 1789. They were first documented in Greene County in 1789,[2] and Jackson County by 1802.[3]
According to a court record concerning a mare stolen in March of 1802, Leonard Maddox swore that he had a mare stolen in previous March by the Creek Indians from the Appelachie River. He had trailed the mare toward the
Creek Nation. His father Zachariah and Uncle Alexander swore to the accuracy of the claim filed in Jackson County. [4]
He passed away in 1825.
