The name Fleet comes from Rev. Fleet Cooper, a family connection through the Scotts. Fleet Cooper and Margaret Coore's son, Fleet Jr., married Sarah Scott, the daughter of Nehemiah Scott and was the sister of Bethany Scott Magee and Mary Scott Magee.

Fleet served in the War of 1812 according to Mississippi Territory in the War of 1812, Roll of Mississippi Commands in the War of 1812, Page 203. He's listed in Rowland's Command. He served in John Bond's Company, 13th Regiment, Nixon's until May, 1815. [2][3]
From the War of 1812 files of Fleet Magee and Rebecca Magee (BLWT. 91779-160-55) Edna Simmons Campbell found that Rebecca Piggott Magee, 10 Nov. 1855 applied for bounty land to which she was entitled to under Act 3, March 1855.
Jan. 17, 1828 - Simon Gentry deed to Fleet Magee and Luke Conerly for $250 plantation or parcel of land E half of SE quarter of Sect. 15, T 1, R 12 E, containing 80 acres; also W half of SW quarter of Sect. 14, T 1, R 12 E, containing 80 acres. Wit: Benjamin Youngblood, Quinew Lewis, and Joel Bullock.
She gave her age as 52 (as of Nov. 10, 1855), widow of Fleet Magee, who volunteered at Pearl River (John Ford's Ferry), 1st Jan. ---- for 6 months, served 3 months; they were married by Thomas Griffin, 15 Feb. 1822; maiden name Pigott, her husband died 23 Aug. 1847 and she remained a widow.
The Rev Thomas Griffin, who performed their marriage, was a "saddlebags" preacher. Excerpts from his journals are found in Southern Methodist Review, Volume 52, Issue 3 The Rev Thomas Griffin married Mary, the daughter of John Ford
