I just completed the merge. I kept the earlier text because it was much more complete. And apparently I created a duplicate - sorry about that! He was supposed to be one of my husband's ancestors but turned out not be and ended up forgotten, so thank you!
Jack... Thanks! It looks like you can change the birth date on this profile to 1735 and then it will be up to Eva to complete the merge. There will be links to two different Content Bromley profiles and two different Content Hakes profiles, which likely will be resolved by more merges.
Hi Steve: I have received notice to consider a merge between Main-1727 and Main-733. Let's compare notes and sources. The source for his birthdate of 7 Feb 1735 is "The Main Tree, Descendants of John Mayne (Mayne/Maine/Main) by Nancy (Porter) Childress. In the paragraph about his date of birth she refers to the work of "Aspinwall said in his works that "he personally saw the family Bible of Johas Main in 1900..." While I understand that these books of genealogy may (and often do) contain errors, let's put our heads together. Please let me know your thoughts. (By the way, I have distant DNA matches at FTDNA from this family, and have identified this connection on the mapping of my Chromosomes). Best! Jack
Main-1727 and Main-733 appear to represent the same person because: These are clearly the same person, we just need to resolve the birth year. A few records claim 1734 and a few claim 1736, but the vast majority are 1735. In 1756 Jonas married Patience Peckham who died a couple years later, and then Jonas married Content Bromely in 1760.
Main-1795 and Main-733 appear to represent the same person because: same name and spouse.
