Lawrence Phillip Major was born on November 29, 1924, in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia. His father, Marvin, was 29 and his mother, Sadie, was 30.
Lawrence lived in Steubenville, Ohio, when the United States declared war on Japan (December 8, 1941). He was 17 years old at that time.
His father Marvin passed away in 1942 at the age of 47 when Lawrence was 18 years old.
He joined the military on April 5, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, when he was 18 years old.
He married Jane in Washington(?) on November 7, 1944, when he was 19 years old. But then divorced her 6 months later, on May 27, 1945, in Ohio. He was 20 years old by then. Jane was already pregnant with their son, Larry at the time of their divorce.
He married Dorothy in Steubenville, Ohio, in 1945 when he was 21 years old. They had 3 children together.
He married Linda (still living) in 1969 in California when he was 44 years old. They lived in Arizona until his passing.
He died on August 20, 1990, in Glendale, Arizona, at the age of 65.
