Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
John Mallory was a Virginia colonist.

John was born about 1699 or 1700 in Virginia.

Will of John Mallory was written 2 November 1772 and proved 22 September 1774. In the Will he mentions his wife Ann and daughters Ann Smith and Elizabeth Dollings, sons William Mallory, Thomas Mallory, Nathan Mallory and Roger Mallory. Executors were sons Wm. Mallory and Nathan Mallory. Proved by Oath of Wm Bell and Wm Smith.[1] A copy of the will in my possession is very difficult to read and I can only clearly transcribe half of the document.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Therefore, I have to assume his son John's death year on WikiTree is currently wrong; and that son John died before his father (this profile) wrote will in 1772.

Does he have a son John who married Grace Smith, and who predeceased him (so not in will)? The son John we have linked now outlives him, so... why not in the will?
