William Marshall was born in 1735, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. During the American Revolutionary War, William enlisted as a Private in Captain John Boyle's Company. William resided in Fauquier County, Virginia and then Kentucky County, Virginia, which eventually became the state of Kentucky. [1]
William Marshall is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A074036. DAR records indicate that William died in 1809, in New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky and that his wife's name was Mary Ann Pickett. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their sons, George Marshall, who married Naomi Vardeman; S. Lewis Marshall, who married Prudence Vardiman; William Marshall, who married Rebecca Johnson; and Martin Marshall, who married Matilda Battaile Taliaferro; and of their daughters, Mary Ann Marshall, who married Thomas Robinson; Lucy Marshall, who married Edward Booker; and Hettie Bohethelum Marshall, who married Edward Ballow. Lincoln County, Kentucky Court of 20 Aug 1783 p.91, William Marshall, V. William Mann, in case. - There came a jury composed of William Montgomery, Sr., John Sellers, William Mcclure, John Hall, James Davis, Robert Moore, Joseph Wilson, William Logan, Jacob Froman, William Montgomery, Jr., Williams Cavanaugh And Robert Leason, who found for the plaintiff in the amount of 7 pounds damages. Verdict accordingly, plus costs p. 92, Ordered that William Marshall pay John Marshall & Markham Marshall each 50 pounds of tobacco for two days attendance as witness for him against William Mann.

[3] In the name of God, Amen: I, William Marshall, of the County of Henry, in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, being weak of body, but sound of mind, memory and understanding, do make and declare this my last will and testament, as follows:
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Lewis Marshall a certain tract or parcel of land entered in my name situate in Bourbon County to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my son George Marshall a negro woman named Winny and her child which he heretofore sold to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth Ballow, a negro girl named Milly, which she now has in possession, to her and to her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my sons, William and Thomas Marshall, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing 300 acres, situate in Shelby County, to them and their heirs forever, according to their division by them heretofore made, it being the land I purchased of James and Thomas Reeves.
I give and bequeath to my wife, Maryann, the tract of land upon which I now reside, containing 107 acres, and all the rest and residue of my estate, both real and personal, during her natural life, if she remains a widow, to be used for the supporting of herself and younger children, so long as they may live with their mother, viz.: Maryann, Susanna and Jane; and in case she should intermarry with any other man, or at her death, in either case, then the said lands and personal estate to be equally divided among the following children: Hethy Ballow, Martin Marshall, Lucy Booker, Maryann, Susanna and Jane Marshall, which shares they and their heirs, are to hold forever;
hereby revoking and disannulling all former and other wills, by me heretofore made.
And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my said wife and my two sons, Lewis and Martin, my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament.
