Jane Marshall was born about 1798 or 1799, the daughter of William Marshall, a farmer, and Isabella Vartky. She married Thomas Gay in Armagh, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland before they migrated.[1][2]
Jane came to Australia with her family on the ship 'Margaret,' arriving 28 Mar 1841.[3] She was a needlewoman, able to read, and a protestant. The children listed include Isabella 20, Margaret 19, George 17, Thomas 8, John 6, Anna 13, and Lydia 11.
Jane died at Jamberoo, NSW, on the 17th of March 1869, aged 70.[4]
