Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.
Kind regards from Black Forest
I have other more modern German ancestors who arrived in USA by 1850, and I hope to continue to learn more. Best regards, Lilly Martin
Thanks for your work on Wikitree. I see that you've added several pre-1700 profiles using family search person pages as the sole source for the profile. The person page on FS is not considered a reliable pre-1700 source as that information is user submitted and not necessarily based on actual records. Do you have other reliable sources you could add to those profiles? Cheers, Elizabeth
Thank you for the comment. I agree with you completely. The familysearch.org researcher, Wayne J. Domes, is a personal correspondent of mine, and he has been the expert on the Vermilye family (that branch) since 1976. His work is highly respected by other researchers, and he has a deep understanding of these families and their interconnections through marriage. I am currently working with him to obtain the SOURCES and will be adding them to the profiles as soon as available. He uses court documents, books, family held documents which do survive in private hands, and all of the accepted genealogy records we all depend on. He has uncovered over the years, many mistakes in old genealogies published, and he has been correctly old mistakes which have been carried forward by researchers through copy&paste family trees. I will continue to support those profiles with actual sources for identification, and I agree with you this is the proper way. Best regards, Lilly Martin
I take your comment very seriously, and you will note I spent many hours yesterday adding sources to the early profiles I have added. Betts, Hadley, Vermilye, Tibbetts, etc. All are interconnected through marriages and residency in Lower Yonkers, Westchester Co, NY. I propose to continue adding sources. If you should see any problems or concerns, please contact me here again. I am not a shirker. I am endeavoring to add only correct profiles, or make connections correctly, and I value your attention to my work. Best regards, Lilly Martin
This source popped up http://www.next1000.com/family/EC/ewens.william.html
There is also one listed for a William Evands here https://www.packrat-pro.com/ships/bonanova.htm The profile has not been created.
Mary Project Coordinator
The above next1000 website corresponds to EWENS-5 profile.
The packrat website above is William Evands who is mentioned in the next1000 website as having no heirs.
I was specifically looking for the Ship Captain William Evans, who is Ewens-5, who brought John Gowen-162 to Colonial Virginia, the first African to be freed in Virginia.
Thank you very much for those 2 websites and your time and effort to help me.
Best regards, Lilly
Just a quick note to let you know that I've connected my profile for Lucy Ann (Gulliford) Perkins (1849-1906) to your profiles for her parents Green Gulliford (1825-1909) and Martha A. (Stokes) Gulliford (1833-1905) . I'll also add in a few more sources that I found.
Kind regards,
Vicky Majewski

CAGT is among the world's leaders in genomic research. Like the laboratory in Huntsville, Texas they went to great, meticulous work at de-contaminating the samples and making sure the ONLY DNA was that of Marilyn's. Granted, the amount of DNA extracted was very small but it was well within the threshold otherwise it would also have been discarded as was the samples given to the Huntsville, Texas lab.
At CAGT in France, Andaine Seguin, Associate Professor of Paleogenomics led the extraction process where the hair samples were first cleaned. added an enzyme solution to break down the proteins and completely dissolves the strand of hair. Any potential DNA was now in liquid form inside the tubes. Scientists amplify it to make it visible to their detection system. However,,this provided 5% of the molecules in Marilyn's hair allowing for billions of sequences which provided enough sequences to identify a significant amount of 'Hair Girl's (Marilyn's) DNA. This was then put through high speed sequencing to read each letters of the strands of DNA. The results exceeded expectation. The risk of a false-positive is about 1 in 46 billion. What is most important to me as a genealogist is the biological blood connection and not a name added to a legal birth certificate when in addition strong circumstantial evidence suggests otherwise and now DNA further confirms those suspicions.
What I would propose is to connect Charles Stanley Gifford as the biological father to Marilyn Monroe . However, keep Edward Mortensen as the legal father and site it as such on his profile and Marilyn Monroe's profile.
I appreciate your years of attention to Marilyn. I started working on her genealogy 22 years ago, myself, just on my computer. I noticed at that time so many things were missing, and "books" with commercial theories were presented as facts, when they were not. I was the one, as you recall, who doggedly insisted that Mortensen should be listed as father, since he was in the legal sense. Others insisted that books and theories were better than California state official documents, which I thought was what wikitree was insisting on to present truthful profiles. In the end, I won my case and Mortensen was listed. Now, we need to reverse, based on DNA. I agree with you totally that Gifford should be listed as biological father, with Mortensen mentioned as legal father. I am not sure how he could be linked? Other than just a note in the biography, with his name and profile number to link him should anyone wish to see him. I support your work, and let me know WHAT can I do to get the ball rolling? The "Notables" committee will take time I suppose to make changes. Thank you so much for keeping up with Marilyn. I am not blood related, but I keep in touch with 2 of her relatives from her mother's side. Best regards, Lilly Martin

Have you ever considered participating in one of WikiTree's Connect-A-Thons? It's a great opportunity to add new profiles, whether they are extended family members or someone who fits into of one of your projects. The next one will run from Friday, April 22nd to Monday, April 25th.
If you are interested in participating, you can sign up in the G2G forum registration post at https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1392037/have-you-registered-for-the-april-2022-connect-a-thon-yet?show=1395381#c1395381 and add another badge to your collection. They ask you to join a team, so I invite you to join the Mid-Atlantic Team since I notice you have roots in Pennsylvania. You are not limited to adding profiles for only this region, of course. Like you, most of us have roots in many other regions and countries. Hope you'll consider joining the fun!
The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.

The Rhoda Chittam Files Are of the Same Person { Chitham -n 6 & Chittum - 97 } are the same person, so they need to be combined ……

The Catharina Davids article, in particular, necessitates some rather radical changes to her profile, as well as changes to profiles or her family members (or creation of additional profiles if the individuals are determined not to be represented here). Would you have the time and interest to work on those changes?
Brouwer only names 3.. Thanks!!

I'm going through the FamilySearch.org images of the Loreto archives page by page and I found records for the profiles that you manage which I added to the profiles. Glad to hear that you approve. I'm researching the Meza, Verdugo, Morillo/Murillo, Drew and Smith families of Loreto and Comondú, Baja California. I would appreciate any tips on these families.
Thanks Austin Pérez

I have just applied a major edit to the profile of John Swindle (Swindle-78) since the original profile merged two individuals. As such your recent comments no longer apply. I will create a new profile for the father of William and Caleb Swindle (if one does not already exist) Alan Swindale (Swindell Y-DNA project coordinator)
My grandmother was Nelle Malicote. Perhaps She is related to the John Malicote you just added!

I need to do more research. I have had past experience with Karen Tobo. At that time it was a gentleman using her sign on. He was creating duplicate persons in my tree. The information was incomplete and he didnt include his sources. The people he created erroneously were my grandmother (LauraBelle Franklin Goins) and great grandmother (Nancy Adeline Griffin Goins). He admitted to doing incomplete research. These Nancys appear to be the same person. The name Burnett is not familiar to me. I need to do further research to see if perhaps his entry had been married more than once. If so, I need to find out if that surname would go under other known names. He appears to have put Burnett as her maiden name. I have sources that show otherwise. I will correct.

I was formerly Karen Tobo, but have never loaned out my login info. I'm sorry to hear you've seen duplicate persons and unsourced profiles. We've got some great volunteers working on the US Black Heritage project as well as so many others. I hope you'll stop by!
Karen
Very well done on your making 1,000 or more contributions to WikiTree in June 2019! We commend and appreciate all of your time and effort in helping to grow and perfect our Shared Tree. Keep up the great work!
