When Melinda Frances 'Fanny' Martin was born on October 24, 1859, in Missouri, her father, Isaac, was 25, and her mother, Jane, was 26. She married John Thomas Downey (1858-1898) on September 16, 1880 in Sherman, Texas[1] and they had one child:

Fanny died within a year of birth on August 19, 1883, in Lebanon, Oklahoma, at the age of 23. John remarried Mary 'Mollie' Francis Stanley (1873-1936) on May 21, 1891 in Grayson County, Texas.[2]
