Biography
When Katherine 'Kate' Louise Martin was born in November 1862 in California, her father, Green, was 54, and her mother, Cornelia, was 23. She married Edward Wells Ballantine on July 5, 1883, in Santa Clara, California;[1] they moved east, landing in New York in 1900 and settling in Chicago by 1910. Edward died in 1931 and Kate died on October 2, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois,[2] at the age of 75.[3]
